Creator of OneChance clothing brand tells his story: Getting to know 18-year-old London Mitchell

'I decided that every single design I do I want to put a message behind it. It’s my story.'

CLEVELAND — Meet 18-year-old London Mitchell.

His passion is fashion. Entrepreneur, designer, creator of the OneChance brand.

But how did that name come about?

“My dad died unexpectedly when I was just 10 years old, and our way of bonding was through fashion,” Mitchell tells 3News' Danita Harris. “We always got excited about the newest, latest designs. When he died, I wanted to continue that bonding experience even though he’s not here. In 2020 I was involved in a life-threatening car accident. I had a fractured skull, broken nose. I came to the realization that this could be the time to do something big. You only have one chance to live. So while you’re here, why not live to the fullest?”

And so it began. His first design was based on his father’s love for vintage cars and also the car accident that sparked his desire to design.

“I decided that every single design I do I want to put a message behind it," Mitchell says. "It’s my story. It’s not just good clothing, good looking designs, but it’s a message behind it.”

His message spread quickly via family and friends. Word of mouth gave the OneChance brand a chance to be seen and worn by celebrities.

“I’ve had Sharife Cooper of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Malaki Branham for the Spurs. I’ve had Lil Baby, a very known artist and many more. It’s amazing.”

Mitchell is in the entrepreneurship program at Tri-C Corporate College and recently took part in a pitch competition at the President’s Luncheon in Cleveland where he was the youngest entrepreneur going for the top money prize -- and he won.

“My heart immediately dropped, and I just couldn’t believe it! It was an unbelievable experience.”

The story and the message behind the OneChance brand is opening amazing opportunities for Mitchell. OnceChance clothing can now be seen and purchased at Next Urban Gear in Beachwood Place.

“I have a huge belief, you know, everything happens for a reason,” Mitchell said. “And, you know, God showed me he took away this thing, had this tragic event, you know, to do something better.”
