FOX 8 News Meteorologist Dick Goddard announced his retirement Wednesday night.
Goddard will be retiring in November. He plans to focus on animal advocacy.
He got his start in television at WKYC (then known as KYW) in December 1960 when he appeared on Linn Sheldon's "Barnaby" show.
In his book "Six inches of Partly Cloudy," Goddard remembers his first broadcast at WKYC on May 1, 1961.
"My initiation came on May 1, 1961, with veteran broadcasters Bud Dancy and Jim Graner. I remember Jim introduced me by saying, 'Dick Goddard, the first meteorologist on Cleveland television, will be here with his first rumor in two minutes.' "
Thank you, Mr. Goddard. For everything.
