Cleveland police: Man fatally stabbed, suspect in custody

The victim and suspect both resided at a sober home in Cleveland.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating a stabbing that killed one man on Thursday night.

The incident happened just after 5 p.m. at 3516 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Cleveland. 

Upon arriving at the scene, EMS officials transported a 38-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest to University Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead. 

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as Leon Palmer of Parma. 

According to an initial investigation, Palmer and the suspect live at a sober house on Spafford Road. 

Palmer was with other residents at a house on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive when the suspect allegedly approached the victim and stabbed him in the chest before returning home to Spafford Road. 

The suspect had previously been in a verbal argument with other residents at the home. 

Cleveland Police say the 42-year-old suspect was taken into custody at 7305 Spafford Drive without incident. 

The homicide unit responded to the scene for investigation. 

At this time, no other information has been released and this incident remains under investigation.
