CLEVELAND — A 34-year-old man is dead following a shooting outside a Starbucks on Cleveland's west side early Wednesday morning.
According to police, witnesses said the victim and his girlfriend had been involved in an argument at the Tick Tock Tavern on Clifton Boulevard before the pair left and drove to the Starbucks parking lot about a block away. Moments later, the same people involved in the earlier argument arrived and began fighting again, and around 1:15 a.m. gunshots were fired at the victim.
The man was struck in the neck, and Lakewood officers soon arrived to render first aid (the Starbucks is in Edgewater right by the Lakewood border). Cleveland EMS officials then rushed the victim to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. He has since been identified as Cleveland resident Caleb Kelley, per the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner.
Besides the victim's car, another vehicle that was not involved in the incident was struck by gunfire. The woman inside that vehicle was not hurt, nor was the victim's girlfriend.
No arrests have been made at this time, and authorities have not named any possible suspects. Anyone with information is asked to immediately call the Cleveland Division of Police at (216) 623-5464 or Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County at (216) 252-7463. A cash reward of up to $5,000 may be available for such info.
