CLEVELAND — Ten years after the Miracle in Cleveland, Michelle Knight, who now goes by Lily Rose Lee, is moving forward by tapping into her true passion: Rescuing animals.
It's called "Tragedy to Triumph," which is set for Sunday, May 7, at Windows on the River.
There, she'll speak about the woman she's become after suffering unimaginable torture at the hands of Ariel Castro on Cleveland’s Seymour Avenue, how she found the strength to move forward and why she started her non-profit, Unleashed Animal Rescue.
“Unleashed Animal Rescue is a place where everybody can come and enjoy the animals whether or not they adopt or not. The animals definitely get a sense of socializing. They are able to see different people. They get to interact," said Lily Rose.
The event runs from 5-10 p.m.
- Individual tickets are at $90 per person
- Couple tickets are at $160 per couple
- Sponsorships are at $560 per table with eight people per table.

In a recent interview with 3News' Laura Caso, Lily said she witnessed constant animal abuse from Castro within the house of horrors.
“He brought animals into the house and he either starved them beat them and did harm to them in unimaginable ways and each one of them perished. The first time I actually tried to run is the time that he gave me a puppy and he broke the puppies neck right in front of me and then slammed me on the back of my neck. It was losing the only best friends that I had and every day of every hour I pray for that little one.”
Losing her puppy inspired her to never give up on the animals whom she cares for.
“The greatest gift I can give that animal is the forever home they so desperately need,” said Lily Rose. “Today, I love everything about my life, the good and the bad because life is a handful of good and bad but it’s how you move forward.”
