CLEVELAND -- Prosecutors argued at a court hearing in Cleveland that a reputed mob associate and former son-in-law of mob boss John Gotti should receive a high bond for charges related to what authorities say is a multi-million dollar scam involving scrap metal and stolen cars.
Fifty-six-year-old Carmine "The Bull" Agnello of Bentleyville was arraigned Friday morning. He's been free on a personal bond since July 17, two days after his arrest by Cleveland police.
The judge continued the bond at $100,000. County prosecutors sought a bond of at least $1 million. They say Agnello is a flight risk with a history of violence, racketeering, witness intimidation and jury tampering while a member the Gambino crime family in New York City.
His wife, Danielle Agnello, also made a court appearance on charges in the case. Her bond is set at $10,000. Her pre-trial date is Oct. 8.
Carmine's attorneys say prosecutors' argument are frivolous. He is due back in court on Sept. 8
