Monday marks two years since someone gunned down Cleveland Clinic employee, Stephen Halton on Cleveland's northeast side.
His family dealing with the loss every day. Whoever killed him remains at large.
30-year-old Stephen Halton, an anesthesia tech, was called into work at the Cleveland Clinic around 4:30 a.m. Jan. 11, 2014. He was called in to assist in a life saving organ transplant surgery.
"We knew that he would not turn down a call. He would not," said Halton's father, Stephen Halton Sr.
Halton, headed into work, was waiting for the bus when someone shot him at E.156th Street and Lakeshore Boulevard.
Cleveland Police Deputy Chief Ed Tomba says it's a tragedy. "Tragically for no reason, Halton was gunned down and murdered," Tomba said.
Two years later there are no eyewitnesses and no suspect description to go on.
Six tips in 16 months that turned up nothing.
"We've had two different sets teams of investigators working this case. Somebody else knows something, saw something. We really need a break from the public," said Tomba.
"I had to bury my son on my birthday," Halton Sr. says holding back tears.
"They didn't know they took a prince away from us. On Janary 11th we were given a life sentence," said Halton's mother, Sheila Halton.
Halton also was Shareese Halton's husband, and father to their two children, 7 year-old Skyler and 5 year-old Sarina.
"He was a great dad! He was our backbone," says Shareese Halton.
The Halton's hoping someone out there knows something, anything. Calls to Crime Stoppers are always anonymous and can lead to an award.
"Your small clue could be the thing that breaks this case right open," says Tanisha Halton, Stephen's sister.
"We're gong to get some answers and I believe we're gong to get them this year. He deserves to have justice," said Stephen Halton Sr.
The Halton family is holding a prayer service Sunday, Jan. 10 at 5 p.m. at Bethlahem Temple of Praise Church, where Stephen Halton Sr is a bishop.
