Northeast Ohio's 'A Special Wish Foundation' aims to create special moments for children, teens fighting life-threatening illnesses

A Special Wish Foundation aims to grant the wishes of children between birth and 20-years-old who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.

CLEVELAND — A Northeast Ohio non-profit is creating special moments for children who are going through the toughest battles anyone will go through in their life.

Founded in 1982, A Special Wish Foundation aims to grant the wishes of children between birth and 20-years-old who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. The Cleveland chapter opened its doors in 2013.

The funds donated to the Cleveland chapter support children seeking treatment through Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital, UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and Akron Children's Hospital.

One of the many examples of how their work within Northeast Ohio was on display on Sunday in Beachwood. A royal-themed princess tea party at Beachwood Place. A fun event for those children to come together, smile and put the struggles they live with daily behind them. A slice of normalcy for children who may not have a lot of "normal" in their daily routine.

Do you know a child who may qualify for services from A Special Wish Foundation? Below are the qualifications listed on their website to become a "A Special Wish Northeast Ohio Family".

Here are the qualifications to become A Special Wish Northeast Ohio family:

  • Must be a resident in Northeast Ohio

  • Child must have a life-threatening illness/disease

  • Child must be between birth and up to 20 years of age

  • Child has never had a ‘wish’ with any other wish granting organization
