CLEVELAND — Big changes are coming to Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood on Friday.
Starting today, Market Avenue in Ohio City will be permanently closed to vehicles, allowing access to pedestrians only.
The announcement comes as Ohio City works to make Market Avenue a public space amid all of the restaurants and breweries located on the street. New seats have already been added to the area for visitors.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Ohio City Incorporated posted the news, saying they are "thrilled to share that as of this Fri 9/1 Market Ave will be permanently closed to vehicular traffic. This has been a long-time dream & we are excited for the possibilities it has as a public space."
Market Avenue is home to many of Northeast Ohio's favorites including West Side Market, Great Lakes Brewing Company, Koffie Café and more.
Ohio City incorporated also says that they will be working with stakeholders and the larger community to build a placemaking plan.
