CLEVELAND — It was supposed to be a normal Monday in downtown Cleveland's Public Square. But as workers gathered to take down the square's Christmas tree, an unexpected visitor was found.
According to Cleveland Public Square's social media posts, workers found an adult owl as they were packing up the Christmas tree after another holiday season. The owl apparently didn't mind that the tree was artificial, but did not stick around long enough to build a nest.
Cleveland Public Square leaders contacted the city of Cleveland, who then got in touch with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Divsion of Wildlife. The owl, which some on social media identifed as a Northern saw-whet owl, safely flew away on its own.
