Remembering Pearl Harbor 82 years later: USS Cod gives 21-gun salute in Cleveland

Cleveland is paying tribute to the lives lost in Hawaii during the attack on Pearl Harbor with a special ceremony at the USS Cod.

CLEVELAND — "Dec. 7, 1941. A date which will live in infamy."

As the country marks 82 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor on Thursday, the USS Cod in Cleveland paid tribute and honored the lives lost by giving a 21-gun salute with American Legion Post 572.

It came as local veterans also visited the USS Cod for a wreath-casting ceremony.

The USS Cod was one of more than 200 submarines and thousands of other warships built in response to the Pearl Harbor attack, according to USS Cod Submarine Memorial President Paul Farace.
