A 24-year-old man is in the hospital today after a shooting that took place Tuesday afternoon on Phillips Avenue in Wickliffe.
According to police, calls came in around 12:40 p.m. with reports of a male victim who had been shot.
Upon arrival in the 30200 block of Phillips Avenue, officers found the unidentified 24-year-old with a gunshot wound outside of a home. The man was transported to a local hospital and is currently expected to live, but is in serious condition according to police.

Officers formed perimeters around two homes believed to be occupied by suspects in the shooting, and police ordered the suspects to exit the homes. Two men exited and were detained. Both homes were the suspects were hiding were found to be empty.
32-year-old Tyler Gates was arrested by Wickliffe police for felonious assault and possessing a firearm while under disability. Gates is currently being held on a $100,000 bond at the Lake County Jail.
No other information or suspects have been publicly named by officials at this time.
