The East Cleveland Police Department is looking for anyone with information related to a recent robbery that took place at the Sunoco gas station on Euclid Avenue.
According to police, the incident happened Thursday morning around 6:30 a.m. when an officer responded to a call of a robbery at 15327 Euclid Avenue, with suspects still on scene. The victim told police that the male suspects were sitting in a blue Hyundai at a gas pump.
As officers arrived on scene, patrol officers attempted to block the vehicle from driving away. The male driver of the blue Hyundai then attempted to flee, running into a marked police car.
Five male suspects then fled on foot, heading in several different directions. The male driver ran northbound on Euclid Avenue and then ran behind the Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Health Services building. That is when the unidentified suspect turned around, pointed a loaded firearm at the patrol officer following him, and began shooting.
The officer was able to take cover behind the building, but the suspect was able to get away. The patrolman did not sustain any injuries.
Police were able to apprehend two of the five suspects involved in the robbery.
The vehicle used by the suspects was later connected to a recent carjacking in Cleveland.
If you have any information regarding this morning's robbery, please contact the East Cleveland Detective Bureau at (216)-681-2162.
