CLEVELAND — The popular A Christmas Story run in downtown Cleveland has been postponed until 2021.
The City of Cleveland and other city officials involved have deemed the 5k and 10k race too great a risk for runners and citizens amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to a post on the race's Facebook page.
"This race is a Cleveland institution and an inspiration to fans and runners alike. For the past 7 years, you the runners, sponsors and volunteers alike have raised over $600,000 for the restoration of Ralphie's Neighborhood in the Tremont area of Cleveland," Amy Kentner, Race Director, wrote in the Facebook post. "While we share in the community's disappointment, our goal is to be back together in Cleveland for the 8th annual event, stronger than ever."
Those who were already registered for the 2020 event will be issued a refund by September 30.
