CLEVELAND — The LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland on Friday released details for its upcoming Pride in the CLE celebration on June 1.
The organization says the day-long event, held this year on the first day of Pride Month, "aims to promote equality, diversity, and inclusivity for all members of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies."
"As we come together to celebrate Pride in the CLE, we reaffirm our commitment to equality, acceptance, and love for all," said Phyllis Harris, executive director of the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland. "This event is not just a celebration; it's a powerful reminder of the progress we've made and the work that still lies ahead in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion."
The event will take over all three sections of the Cleveland Mall in downtown Cleveland, beginning with the Pride in the CLE March, a one-mile parade that will start at Mall A (Memorial Plaza) and end at Malls B and C. The parade steps off at 11 a.m. The deadline to apply to participate is May 17.
"Participants are encouraged to wear rainbow colors, wave flags, and show their Pride as they march alongside friends, family, and allies," the LGBT Community Center said.
Following the march, more celebrations will be held until 6 p.m. at Mall B on St. Clair Avenue and Mall C (Strawbridge Plaza). Programming set for Malls B and C include live entertainment, speeches and presentations from LGBTQ+ activists and leaders, vendor booths from LGTBTQ-owned businesses, food trucks, a beer garden, and family activities and workshops aimed at promoting inclusivity.
Atlanta-based pop artist Sienna Liggins will headline the live musical performances, which will also include sets from other LGBTQ+ artists and allies, organizers said.
