CLEVELAND — Despite the cold and snowy conditions in Cleveland on Saturday morning, crowds gathered outside of City Hall to take part in Women's March 2020.
This year's march is to raise awareness for three key issues: Climate justice, immigrant justice, and reproductive justice.
Keynote speakers are Cleveland Rape Crisis Center CEO Sondra Miller, Ohio Rep. Juanita Brent of Cleveland and the Rev. Tony Minor. State Senator Nickie Antonio will give opening remarks. The event is being emceed by Black Women's Pac President Elaine Gohlstin and community organizer, writer and reproductive rights activist Mallory McMaster.
Local organizers list issues that range from the impending war by the U.S. in Iran following airstrikes by President Trump, the president's policies out of Washington, D.C. and civil, voting and reproductive rights to education, racism, sexism, climate change, equal pay, immigration, poverty, and religious and other bigotry.
Also at issue are violence against women, health care, jobs, criminal justice reform, excessive force, science and technology, and the LGBTQ community.
