CLEVELAND -- In an announcement Wednesday, University Hospitals and Robinson Health System have reached an agreement for Robinson to join the UH health system.
The agreement, subject to final approval from state government regulators, is expected to close in June.
"This new agreement affirms our shared conviction that together we will best serve the residents of Portage County and surrounding communities," said Thomas F. Zenty III, CEO of University Hospitals. "We look forward to growing and enhancing Robinson's services and programs to continue their long-standing tradition of providing patient-focused, superior-quality health care close to home."
The Robinson board of directors unanimously chose University Hospitals, and the agreement was also recently approved by the UH board.
The integration could include upgrades to facilities, equipment, services and technologies. UH said it aims to provide innovative practices, clinical research that will complement and grow Robinson's clinical programs.
Located in Ravenna, Robinson Health System operates Robinson Memorial Hospital, a 117-staffed-bed hospital. The medical staff consists of nearly 400 physicians representing over 40 medical specialties.
UH employs 25,000 Ohio residents and is the second-largest employer in Northeast Ohio. The health system is an integrated network of 15 hospitals, including its relationships with Southwest General Health Center and St. John Medical Center, and 29 outpatient health centers located in 15 counties throughout the Northeast Ohio region.
Robinson Health System also operates an urgent care facility; comprehensive imaging facilities; a network of physician practices; and outpatient centers and medical facilities throughout Portage County.
