CLEVELAND — Editor's note: The video in the player above is from a story on the upcoming Cleveland mayoral election.
On Thursday, the City of Cleveland and the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections announced a partnership with Rock Entertainment group that will allow Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to serve as a polling location for several important 2021 elections.
According to a release sent to 3News, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will be used as a polling location for the congressional primary election on August 3, the primary election on September 14 and the general election on November 2. The spot will be open to registered visitors in precincts I, L and Q.
This isn't the first time that the center has been used as a polling spot. In November 2020, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse opened its doors to registered Northeast Ohio voters.
"The Cavaliers organization has a long-standing record of supporting voter registration initiatives and promotions," an August 2020 release from the Cavs said. "Every year millions of Americans find themselves unable to vote because they miss a registration deadline, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register. National Voter Registration Day was first observed in 2012 to educate and create awareness of voter registration opportunities to reach voters who may not register otherwise."
