RTA to offer free rides to 24 hour transit centers, rail stations

Three transit centers and two rail stations will be open 24 hours to shelter people from the cold.

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority is extending the hours of three of its transit centers and two rail stations to 24 hours to help the public can escape the cold.

RTA will also be providing free rides to the centers.

"RTA wants to help as many people as possible get to someplace safe and warm,” said RTA CEO and General Manager Joe Calabrese."

The following transit centers will be open 24 hours:

Southgate Transit Center, 5491 Warrensville Center Rd., Maple Hts., OH 44137

Westgate Transit Center, 21159 Center Ridge Rd., Fairview Park, OH 44126

Parma Transit Center, 8750 Day Drive, Parma, OH 44129

West 117 Station on the Red Line, 11631 Madison Ave., Cleve. OH 44102

Louis Stokes/Windermere Station on the Red Line, 14232 Euclid Ave., East Cleve., OH 44112

The service will continue until RTA determines it is no longer needed during this spell of record cold.
