CLEVELAND — An investigation is underway after Saint Ignatius High School reportedly received a threat online, resulting in the decision to cancel classes and close the school's campus on Monday.
Although school officials aren’t releasing many details at this time, they did provide the following statement to 3News in light of Monday’s closure:
Last evening a threat against Saint Ignatius High School was made on social media. Local law enforcement was contacted and an investigation is ongoing.
Due to an abundance of caution, school officials chose to cancel classes and close the campus for the day. The safety and security of our students, faculty and staff is of the utmost importance to us.
No additional details were immediately available.
Saint Ignatius High School, which opened its doors Sept. 6, 1886, is a Jesuit college-preparatory school that enrolls more than 1,500 young men from 96 cities in a nine-county region.
