CLEVELAND — A 25-year-old fugitive has been arrested after more than a year on the run.
Sedrick Hawkins was wanted for aggravated murder connected to the death of 74-year-old Larry Manno.
The crime dates back to Sept. 16, 2019, when Manno was found by his secretary at his landscaping business severely beaten. The business had also been ransacked, authorities said.
Manno, who was hospitalized for approximately one month after the incident, died from his injuries. Neighbors in the Buckeye-Shaker area helped police identify Hawkins as the suspect.
Following up on a tip, Hawkins was located in the Kinsman area, and he was taken into custody early Monday morning without incident in the 3100 block of East 99th Street.
“The community members in the Buckeye neighborhood did an outstanding job assisting police with identifying the suspect in the tragic murder of Mr. Manno,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott. “The Cleveland Police and members of the NOVFTF never gave up on finding Mr. Manno’s killer. Anyone who commits crimes such as this in our community will be sought until they are arrested and brought before the justice system for their crimes.”
No additional details were immediately available.
