CLEVELAND -- The intersection of West 78th Street and Elton Avenue has been closed due to a collapsed main sewer.

Crews from the Division of Water Pollution Control are rerouting the course of flow north to another sewer main.

The rerouting will help eliminate backups that could cause flooding in streets, homes and businesses.

Anyone who experiences basement flooding is asked to call (216) 664- 2513.

The intersection will remain closed for the duration of the repair, which will begin Wednesday and is expected to be completed in 10 days.

The sewer is made of clay and was built in 1901.
