CLEVELAND -- The man who created some of the biggest superheroes in comic book history has canceled his upcoming Cleveland appearance.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Stan Lee will not be attending Wizard World Cleveland,” the event’s organizers posted on Facebook. “All Stan Lee VIP, autograph and photo op tickets are being refunded. We apologize for the cancelation.”
Lee was slated to be one of the featured guests at the third annual Wizard World Comic Con, which takes place March 2-4 inside the Huntington Convention Center in downtown Cleveland
His appearance would have cost fans $120 for autographs and another $120 for photo ops. There was also a "Stan Lee Gold VIP Package" available for $439 (plus a $49.33 fee), which would’ve included an autograph, photo op, three-day Comic Con pass, an exclusive gift bag and more.
Lee recently was recently immortalized in Hollywood by imprinting his hands and feet in cement at the iconic TCL Chinese Theater.
“Known to millions as the man whose superheroes propelled Marvel to its preeminent position in the comic book industry, Stan’s co-creations include Spider-Man, The Incredible Hulk, X-Men, The Fantastic Four and Iron Man,” according to Wizard World Comic Con.
Other guests at this year’s event include:
