CLEVELAND — Channel 3 News has learned that one of Mayor Frank Jackson's top transportation officials has been reassigned after a breach of security at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

Fred Szabo will move from his post as assistant director of Cleveland Hopkins Airport to interim manager of the city's emergency operations center at the Department of Public Safety, according to city of Cleveland spokesman Dan Williams.

The security breach incident happened in October. Szabo was suspended 10 days without pay while Chief of Operations Darnell Brown was suspended five days without pay.

Channel 3 News learned that Brown had passed through a TSA checkpoint but forgot something in his car, which was parked in an airport lot. Szabo reportedly met Brown at the checkpoint and escorted him to his car, allowing Brown to bypass the checkpoint on his return with the unidentified item not being screened by airport security.

It's not known what Brown had carried on to the plane.
