Suspect wanted for brutal robbery of Broadway Pizza in Cleveland captured by US Marshals; pleads not guilty

Terrance Trawick pleaded not guilty to charges that include aggravated robbery and felonious assault.

CLEVELAND — A 37-year-old man accused of brutally robbing Broadway Pizza in June was arraigned in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on Thursday.

Terrance Trawick was arrested earlier this week by the United States Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) in Cleveland. He pleaded not guilty to charges that included aggravated robbery and felonious assault. Bond for Trawick was set at $100,000 with a pretrial hearing set for next week.

Investigators say Trawick and a second suspect entered Broadway Pizza on Broadway Avenue in Cleveland's Slavic Village neighborhood just after midnight on June 15. Surveillance video released showed the men chatting with the woman at the desk when one of them suddenly grabs her hair and puts a gun to the back of her neck. He can then be heard threatening to shoot her if anyone else moves, later pulling her around the desk as the second suspect held down another worker.

Employees said the suspects did fire shots during the robbery, but no one was struck by gunfire. The suspects beat up and robbed the victims, then fled from the scene on foot. When police arrived, they found both victims bleeding profusely.

Trawick was wanted for aggravated robbery by both the Cleveland Division of Police and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office. He was also wanted by the Valley View Police Department for a drug possession charge.

The NOVFTF developed information that revealed that Trawick was hiding at a residence on East 55th Street in Cleveland. On Tuesday, marshals arrested Trawick at a home near the 3200 block of East 55th Street, roughly a mile away from where the robbery had occurred. Trawick was apparently hiding under a bed when he was captured.

"The men and women of our fugitive task force worked tirelessly over the past month, tracking down this violent fugitive. Today, his run from the law ended after our task force found him hiding under a bed," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement.
