CLEVELAND — The second Friday in June means it's time for Walkabout Tremont. Professor Avenue was once again transformed into an arts, music, and food fair. There were local artists, dancers, and pop-up shops.
You don't have to be a college professor (or even live on College Ave. or Professor Ave.) to find fun in Tremont. Especially at Walkabout Tremont.
Lisa Nemeth is with Northcoast Promotions. This is the 27th year for Walkabout and man, has it grown!
"The first few times we did it, we had like 4 tents popping up," recalls Nemeth. "Tonight (Friday) we have 32, so this is probably the largest pop-up that we've had."
And business was booming. Grace Shoenberger picked up a gift for her cousin. "I wanted to come down here and I knew I would find something unique, like something she like couldn't get at like the mall," Grace tells us.
In the shadow of St John Cantius Church, there was a rainbow of scented candles from Wonderful Escape, watercolors by Rhonda and Cleveland clothing from Everarbor. But the biggest pop-up of them all was Dr. U R Awesome, AKA Dr. Bubbles. Next to the bubbles were bellies. As in belly dancers.
The walkabout allows people to have some fun and explore Tremont, while supporting local businesses.
