'All clear' given after bomb squad responds to federal building in downtown Cleveland

CLEVELAND — A bomb squad was called to the federal building on East 9th Street in downtown Cleveland.

Cleveland police tell 3News the bomb squad responded to the scene Thursday morning to check on a vehicle outside.

The department issued the following statement shortly after 11 a.m.: "The Cleveland Division of Police Bomb Squad is currently on scene at 1240 East 9th Street assisting Homeland Security in checking a vehicle. Further information will be provided when it is available."

Police began reopening roadways in the area around noon.

"Bomb squad complete all clear," Cleveland police said in a brief e-mail update at 12:14 p.m. "Scene turned over to Federal Protective Services."
