West Side Market adapts to coronavirus pandemic: Curbside service now available

The West Side Market is still open for business amid the coronavirus pandemic. But if you don't want to go inside, there's curbside pickup service available.

CLEVELAND — Just pick up the phone, make your order and they’ll bring it right to your car.

That’s the new service the West Side Market is offering to help get customers back to the store.

“Even through this crisis, we're here for the customers," said Yeugen Pylypiv Jr. "We want to serve them and make sure everyone has their food.”

Yeugen has been with the West Side Market for more than 20 years and says this is by far the toughest time.

“A lot of people are scared to come out, so it did affect business. We don’t do as much business, but there are people who still come out -- and thank you to those people who do.”

The market has all vendor phone numbers posted online if customers are interested in using the service.

Darrell Toney from M&M Foods says it’s been very beneficial for the elderly.

“I have a lot of elderly who use it, and we don’t mind doing it for them.”

After calling ahead to vendors, you pick up your order outside of the market at two locations: One by the loading dock in back by the parking lot and the other on Lorain Avenue.

“We’re going to get through it were just waiting for it to pass by,” Toney said.
