Another deadly fire in Cleveland: Woman dies in East 170th Street incident

The cause is being labeled as unintentional kitchen fire.

CLEVELAND — A woman has died following an overnight fire in Cleveland in the 1200 block of East 170th Street.

Lt. Mike Norman with the Cleveland Fire Department says officers first responded to the scene for an alarm drop.

After seeing smoke upon their arrival, authorities broke through a security door with a flashlight and entered the home.

Lt. Norman says the 61-year-old woman was pulled out of the house where she was given CPR until EMS and fire crews arrived at the scene, but she did not survive.

The cause is being labeled as unintentional kitchen fire. Lt. Normal also said there were no working smoke alarms inside the home.

No additional details were immediately available.

This marks the second deadly fire in Cleveland this week after a woman died in a blaze within the 8600 block of Cannon Avenue around 1 a.m. Monday.
