The event benefits Montifiore’s dementia care programs that involve music.

Music allows individuals with dementia to reconnect with the world through music-triggered memories stored deep within the brain, according to the non-profit organization, Music & Memory.

While Alzheimer’s damages the ability to recall facts and details, it does not destroy these lasting connections between a favorite song or melody and the memory associated with it, no matter how long ago.

Montefiore’s Memory Care Network implements music programs, services and events that help reawaken these precious memories in individuals with dementia. Our network includes two memory care assisted living communities – The Willensky Residence at Montefiore in Beachwood and The David and Freda Robinson Residence at The Weils in Chagrin Falls – and the Home Smart Memory Care program for those who wish to remain at home.

The Finals Performance & Competition which takes place Sunday, October 7, 2018 will help raise necessary funds to keep memory care programs at Montefiore and The Weils operating.
