Convicted stalker Eric Paull may get early release

"I'm just completely terrified and afraid for my life and the safety of my child should Eric Paull be released," Alexis DeKaney told Channel 3 News on Friday.

"I'm just completely terrified and afraid for my life and the safety of my child should Eric Paull be released," Alexis DeKaney told Channel 3 News on Friday.

Eric Paull was an Akron police Sergeant before he was sentenced to four years in prison last September for stalking and harassing his ex-girlfriend.

He told DeKaney he was "untouchable." Paul is up for parole after just a week short of one year behind bars.

DeKaney is terrified all over again.

“That he will find me and he will kill me. I don't have a single doubt in my mind," said DeKaney through tears.
In July of last year, the now 30-year-old mother told of the nightmare she was living with her ex-boyfriend, Eric Paull.

Months of stalking, threats, and more than 200 text messages a day.

Prosecutors say he even used police computers to track her down.

DeKaney said Paull told her he was “untouchable," but he was finally arrested on eight charges including stalking and assault.

On Sept. 10, 2015, Paull pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, stalking and violating a protection order and was sentenced to four years.

A year later, almost to the day, as life goes on for DeKaney, she finds herself terrified again.

Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Amy Corrigal Jones is allowing Paull to plead his case for an early prison release.

"Daily, if he is released I will fear for my life and my child's life and the other women he has victimized. He truly is a predator," said DeKaney.

"When someone rapes you and violates you and stalks you, the fear is real. It’s not like something you see in a movie It actually happens,” she said.

In August DeKaney wrote the judge begging her "please protect me." Paull will speak on October 17 to plead his early release.

"I’m hopeful some form of justice will prevail and that he will at least get the already lenient sentence of 4 years," said DeKaney.
