According to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh, Ohio's Ninth District Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction of Daniel Tighe, 42, of Tallmadge.

Walsh said that, on July 23, 2013, Tighe murdered his son, 5-year-old Peyton Ralston, and Peyton's mother, 31-year-old Wendy Ralston and hid their bodies in a wooded area behind their shared residence on Stone Creek Drive.

Walsh added that, on August 10, 2013, Tallmadge Police responded to the Stone Creek Drive home after Wendy's mother found two bundles with unknown contents inside.

Tallmadge Police discovered the remains of Wendy and Peyton inside the bundles.

Walsh said a Summit County jury had found Tighe guilty of aggravated murder, murder, domestic violence, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse on Feb. 27, 2015.

Walsh said Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Lynne Callahan sentenced Tighe to life in prison without parole on March 25, 2015.

In his appeal, Walsh says Tighe argued his statements made to investigators should have not been allowed during trial and that police violated his rights. Tighe also argued there was insufficient evidence to support a conviction. The Ninth District Court of Appeals disagreed and denied Tighe's appeal.

In the press release, Walsh included a statement: "Daniel Tighe brutally murdered Wendy and Peyton Ralston, wrapped their bodies in blankets, and dumped them in the woods. Tighe also initially lied to Tallmadage police about Wendy and Peyton's whereabouts. With his appeal denied, Daniel Tighe will never get out of prison. Justice has been served for Wendy and Peyton."
