Two Cuyahoga County Clerk's office employees fall ill while opening mail

The two employees said they felt a burning, tingling sensation while opening the mail.

CLEVELAND — The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s office is looking into an incident at the Cuyahoga County Clerk's office after two employees say they experienced a reaction while opening mail. 

According to Cuyahoga County officials, the situation occurred on Tuesday afternoon around 2:45 p.m., when the employees say they began to feel a burning, tingling sensation. 

Cleveland EMS, Cleveland Fire, and Hazmat all responded immediately, and the employees were taken to the hospital, but later released. 

The matter remains under investigation at this time.
