CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — Cleveland Heights police are investigating after a 37-year-old man was allegedly killed by his girlfriend on Thursday morning.
City officials told 3News that officers responded to the 3300 block of Altamont Road at around 2:48 a.m. after a woman called 911 saying, "I had to shoot my boyfriend" after an alleged "altercation."
The victim, who was identified as Brandon Rice by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office, was pronounced dead inside the home.
The City of Cleveland Heights says that preliminary information reveals that the woman, man and their 11-year-old child, who was home at the time of the shooting, but was not injured, lived together in the home.
Officials say the woman is currently in a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
The details and cause of the "altercation" are unknown.
At this time, the shooting remains an ongoing investigation and no other information has been released.
