ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — Officials in Rocky River confirm that approximately 80 people are without power Sunday evening.
The power outage is the direct result of a fire that broke out at the unoccupied, under construction Rockport River Condominiums on Hilliard Blvd.
3News' Dorsena Drakeford spoke with fire officials once the blaze was somewhat under control. Watch her live coverage in the player below.
According to fire officials, they responded to the area around 6 p.m. The initial call indicated that three floors of the building were engulfed in flames.
The fire moved quickly catching a neighboring building on fire and sending flames to the grass areas near I-90. As a result, the highways was closed as a safe precaution to driver. It was later re-open, however, several streets and bridges near the fire's location remain closed and no expected to re-open this evening.
There is no time estimate for when power will be restored. However, the Red Cross is on the scene to assist those that may be impacted.
