LAKEWOOD, Ohio — The protests against police brutality continue in Northeast Ohio and around the country, with Black Lives Matter holding a unity rally Saturday afternoon in Lakewood.
The event, taking place at Lakewood Park, featured several speakers and encouraged others to come and share there stories. With June also being pride month, a particular focus was paid to members of the black LGBTQ community.
"The senseless murder of innocent black lives HAS to end," organizers wrote, echoing the sentiment of many following the death of George Floyd in Minnesota. "The country has been fighting this war for a LONG time. The black community is tired. This is the time for change and it starts with us."
