BRATENAHL, Ohio — A man was arrested after driving recklessly in a stolen BMW vehicle according to the Bratenahl Police Department.
At approximately 2:50 a.m. on Monday, officers observed the stolen BMW doing donuts in various intersections of the city. Officers engaged in multiple attempts to stop the vehicle, however each time they approached the BMW, the man fled with high speed.
Officers disengaged the pursuit "in the interest of public safety" several times, however the man continued to return to the scene taunting officers to chase him.
On the final time the vehicle returned to the area where officers were located, the man began driving the wrong way on a divided section of Eddy Road. While the driver was distracted, an officer was able to pull in front of him, blocking his continued path forward.
When the suspect drove in reverse in an attempt to flee yet again, he struck another patrol vehicle with the backend of his car. At this point, police had the stolen vehicle blocked in .
The suspect exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot. While he was fleeing, pursuing officers said he was seen with a gun in his right hand. The suspect was eventually detained after officers used a taser to immobilize him.
A suspect continued to resist arrest and refused to let go of the gun once officers had ahold of him, however he was eventually safely detained. The "Glock" style handgun was found to be loaded with 23 rounds of ammo and had a full-auto switch.
The suspect was transported to the Cuyahoga County Jail where he faces multiple charges.
