CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio -- Chagrin Falls native Molly Magnuson is running for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Woman of the Year title in memory of hometown friend Lindsay Rawot.
Rawot died in 2011 of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. For 10 weeks, Magnuson is campaigning to raise $100,000 for the society and be crowned Woman of the Year.
"She continued to fight regardless of consequence," said Magnuson. "And I hope over the next ten weeks that people learn more about the type of person Lindsay was and feel the power to keep fighting too."
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society runs the "Man and Woman of the Year" fundraising competition every year.
Each dollar a participant raises counts as one vote towards the competition. At the end of 10 weeks, the man and woman who raise the most money are crowned Man and Woman of the Year.
Rawot was a 2005 graduate of Chagrin Falls High School, and the 2005 Chagrin Falls Blossom Time Festival Queen.
This weekend is the 2015 Blossom Time Festival and Rawot's high school class's 10-year reunion.
The competition began on March 26 and ends on June 4. Donations are being collected on Magnuson's website.
