CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Very few restaurants in town can say that they have made it to 50 years, so when they do you have to celebrate.
Nighttown, located at 12383 Cedar Road, opened on Feb. 5, 1965, so Thursday on their 50th anniversary they brought in some of their best jazz musicians to play in front of a packed house.
Organizers call it an all-star Cleveland jazz lineup including Joe Hunter, Jackie Warren, Ernie Krivda, George Foley, Sammy DeLeon, Peter Dominguez, Lem Adams, Glenn Davis, Bob Fraser, Moises Borges and more.
"We used to eat here a lot, and I've seen a lot of the greatest jazz artists play here, and I've had the opportunity to play here myself, so I'm thrilled to be part of this event," said Hunter.
The owner calls it the best jazz club between Chicago and New York City and says the acts, the people as well as the location are the reasons he's been able to last 50 years.
So cheers to the next 50 years, Nighttown.
