COLUMBUS, Ohio — Cuyahoga County is still in the "orange" as far as the coronavirus is concerned.
The county remains at Level 2 on the Ohio Public Health Advisory System for COVID-19 risk, indicating "increased exposure and spread." Diagnoses for the area continue to decline, with a two-week average of 79.3 new cases per 100,000 with 979 cases diagnosed from Aug. 11-24.
As of last Thursday when the county first dropped from "red" Level 3, the numbers were 93.52 cases per 100,000, with 1,155 new cases diagnosed over the previous two weeks.
Last week, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health stated that although a remote start to schools is still recommended, sustaining at an orange alert level for multiple weeks will be a consideration in reevaluating recommendations. Some area school districts, including Parma, have said that if the weekly rating stays at orange on September 10, 17 and 24, it will begin the week of September 28 to phase students back into school in a 1/2/2 hybrid model.
As of Tuesday, three Northeast Ohio counties remain at Level 3, indicating "very high exposure and spread": Erie, Lorain, and Trumbull.
