Cuyahoga County Public Library to reopen on July 6

Prior to reopening, the library will expand curbside service to 14 additional branch locations on June 29.

Cuyahoga County Library is ready for the next phase of its reopening plan, announcing on Tuesday that its buildings will re-open for public access on Monday, July 6.

“We are looking forward to entering this next phase of the Library’s re-opening plan. With the introduction of drive-through and curbside service earlier this month, we have carefully developed new procedures to keep our staff and customers safe. We know that many in our community rely on the Library for access to computers, high-speed broadband and information resources. It is critical that we make those resources available,” stated Executive Director Tracy Strobel said in a press release.

In addition to its July 6 reopening, curbside service will be expanded at 14 branch locations. All 27 CCPL branches will offer either drive-through window or curbside service.

In reopening, branch locations will be limited to approximately 25 percent capacity. Additionally, meeting rooms and audio recording studios will remain closed, while the library's three Innovation Centers, printer/copier/fax machines, and public computers will be available for use.

“The Library will look a little different when our customers return,” Strobe saidl. “All staff are required to wear masks to protect one another and our customers, and we strongly encourage our customers to wear them when visiting the Library. Furniture throughout the branches has been modified to promote physical distancing. We are also increasing our standard cleaning schedule to more frequently wipe down high-touch areas, and we will continue to quarantine returned items for 72 hours.”

Library hours will consist of Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. am to 9:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the first hour of each day being reserved for vulnerable/high-risk populations. The use of masks are required for all customers and workers.

Even though the buildings are reopening, all the programs will still be on hiatus. The do offer virtual programs and will continue those, as well as continuing drop off and curbside for those not yet ready to venture back in.
