The Greater Cleveland Fisher House is the Northeast Ohio affiliate of The Fisher House Foundation. Based in Rockville, MD, The Foundation is best known for the network of comfort homes it has built on the grounds of major military hospitals and Veterans Administration medical centers. At this time, there are 62 existing Fisher Houses operating in America; three overseas. Plans are the drawing board for an additional 12 Fisher Houses, including Cleveland.
The Greater Cleveland Fisher House will be a 16,000 square foot home with 16-20 suites and will accommodate up to 42 family members. The house itself will be built on the grounds of The Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in University Circle.
The cost to build The Greater Cleveland Fisher House will total approximately $7 Million. The goal of The Greater Cleveland Fisher House Task Force is to fundraise $3 Million. To date, $1,500,000 has been raised for this initiative, primarily from local veterans' groups and other small grassroots organizations. Once the $3 Million local goal is reached, The Fisher House Foundation will supply the remainder of the funding and build The Greater Cleveland Fisher House. The targeted time window for groundbreaking is early 2015.
With three No. 1 hits under their belt as well as a Grammy nomination , an Academy of Country Music Award for Song of the Year for their hit "Crazy Girl" and their recent 2014 CMA Nomination, the Eli Young Band approached their second album, 10,000 Towns, with a sense of confidence and purpose. "We were genuinely excited about making this new record," says bassist Jon Jones. "People talk about the sophomore record being really tough to make and in a lot of ways this felt like our sophomore record even though it's technically our fifth record as a band." Their current song, DUST, is in the Top 10 on the Country Charts.
On 10,000 Towns, the Eli Young Band delivers a diverse collection of songs that explores the complexities of relationships such as the bluesy cheating song "Revelations" and the heartbreaking "What Does," a poignant examination of a failed relationship. Yet there are several tunes that just revel in the simple pleasures that bring joy to the journey, among them "Just Add Moonlight" and "Let's Do Something Tonight." "A Prayer for the Road" is a tender tribute to the love of their families and the prayerful support that goes with them every mile.
Jana Kramer, who is best known for her role as Alex Dupre on the television series One Tree Hill, began her country music career in 2012 with the single "Why Ya Wanna", which climbed to No. 3 on the country music charts. Her current single, "Love" climbed into the Country Top 40 as well.
Canaan Smith is a country music singer-songwriter with Mercury Records, a division of UMG Recordings, Inc. His debut single, "We Got Us" was released January 24, 2012. His sophomore single, "Love You Like That", was released on July 21, 2014. He was also a reality television contestant on The Amazing Race.
