The Bay Village School District has issued a statement on Monday after an email containing "private student record information," was sent to families of the 2022 graduating class.
According to the district, the email was inadvertently sent on Tuesday, November 23.
"As an educational organization, Bay Village City School District has a legal and ethical responsibility to protect the privacy and security of our education data, including personal information," read the statement from Interim Superintendent, Char Shryock.
The districts says it has contacted all of the Senior families regarding the error and are "doing everything they can to mitigate this situation and ensure it does not happen again. "
Officials with the district did not disclose who was responsible for sending the email nor did they announce any potential consequences.

On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, an email was inadvertently sent out to Class of 2022 Families that contained private student record information. Our Senior Families have been contacted regarding this error.
As an educational organization, Bay Village City School District has a legal and ethical responsibility to protect the privacy and security of our education data, including personal information. We take this responsibility very seriously, and we are doing everything we can to mitigate this situation and ensure it does not happen again.
We sincerely apologize for this unfortunate mistake. Protecting our students is our utmost priority.
