FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio — A 59-year-old Fairview Park man is in custody after being accused of murdering his wife on Wednesday.
According to a release from the Fairview Park Police Department, officers were called to a house in the 21600 block of Westwood Avenue at around 10:15 a.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance.
When police arrived, they were told by one of the home's occupants, an 18-year-old man, that his father had "seriously injured his mother." The teen's father was detained in the front yard of the house, while officers entered and found a 53-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive with life-threatening injuries.
The woman, identified as the wife of the 59-year-old man, was taken to Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Abeer Sehweil.
Police have not yet released the name of the victim's husband, who was taken to the North Olmsted City Jail and will be charged with murder in Rocky River Municipal Court.
Both the Fairview Park Police Department and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) collected evidence at the house. Police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
