The Garfield Heights Police Department reports that the male victim was transported to Marymount Hospital, along with his infant child. The man was shot in his left hip and was treated for his injury. Police say he is in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the 6-month-old baby was life flighted to MetroHealth Medical Center and is in stable condition.

Residents in the area of Wadsworth Avenue, Langton Avenue, and East 110th Street were asked to shelter in place for multiple hours afterward as multiple law enforcement departments conducted an investigation. By 9:15 p.m., three "young male suspects" had been taken into custody along Wadsworth following a standoff.

Police say Khayree Sullivan, Marvin Bell, and Kameren White, all age 22, have been charged with felonious assault. Their bond will be set by court.

“It’s very very upsetting to have that happen in the neighborhood," said Tom Wright, who lives in the area where the shooting happened. "You know, it’s one thing when you just see it on TV, but to have it in your neighborhood puts a whole new complexion on guns, and too many people having them.”

Wright said he heard when the shots were fired, and said police roped off the area in front of his home, placing dozens of evidence markers on the ground.

According to Wright, just before 5 p.m. on Thursday, his wife looked out the window of their home to see a man on the sidewalk with a baby and a gold car nearby. Then, Wright said he heard shots fired from the car, which he said then drove away, before more shots were fired.

“I heard what I thought were fireworks going off, which was kind of shocking in September," he said.
