NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio — Cleanup is under way after a faulty car led to a gas station convenience store catching fire in North Royalton Thursday.
According to Fire Chief Robert Chegan Jr., an elderly couple experiencing car trouble stopped at the Sunoco near State and Wallings Roads this afternoon, but after they got out the vehicle ended up bursting into flames. The blaze ended up making its way to the store complex.
The store was "significantly damaged," but the fire did not touch the gas pumps. No one was injured.
Exactly why the car caught fire is unknown at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
