MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — The hottest song in America right now is "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X, featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. The song is not only dominating the Billboard Top 100 chart, it is providing fun for a local elementary school.
Lander Elementary School in Mayfield Heights held its 5th grade talent show last week and closed things out by having everyone join in on "Old Town Road." Principal Felecia Evans captured the moment on video:
Evans tagged Lil Nas X in her talent show tweet and it caught the artist's attention. Lil Nas X asked when he could stop by and give a free show at the school.
"This has been unbelievable to see the response," Evans told me in an email. "We are so grateful for everyone to see how much joy and energy our students have, we have a great school and awesome students."
So what about a visit from Lil Nas X?
"Unfortunately we haven’t been able to confirm details of any visit, he has a very busy schedule and trying to coordinate something before school ends has been difficult," Evans said. "We are hopeful to figure something out for the near future."
