NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — A man was arrested after an alleged road rage incident led to a shooting in North Olmsted on Wednesday evening.
The incident happened at around 5:52 p.m. when police received a call from a female after she witnessed an altercation between two men in separate vehicles at the Speedway on Lorain Road. Moments later, the two men were allegedly threatening to shoot each other.
Police say that the vehicles left westbound on Lorain Road. Shortly after, a North Olmsted officer reported hearing yelling and two gunshots in the area of Lorain Road near a McDonald's across from the North Olmsted Police Department.
A second North Olmsted officer located the victim's vehicle at the Marathon at Lorain and Porter Road with two bullet holes in it.
According to police, the driver was not injured. The other involved vehicle was located at a residence on Porter Road, where the police arrested the alleged shooter, 22-year-old Elijah Otero of North Olmsted. Police say they also recovered a handgun.
The investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from an alleged road rage incident between the victim and Otero's brother.
Otero is currently being held in the North Olmsted Jail awaiting arraignment on a charge of felonious assault.
Police say that additional charges may be added when the case is presented to the Grand Jury.
