The two suspects in an Olmsted Township bar fight that turned deadly over the weekend appeared in court Monday morning.
Bond was continued at $1 million for both.
Stacey Reed and Joe Veselenik are accused of having a role in the death of 28-year-old Frank Castrucci. Both are charged with attempted aggravated murder. Reed is also facing felonious assault charges for stabbing a bartender.
The bar fight occurred at Falls Lounge Bar around 1 a.m. Saturday.
According to 911 audio, a man told dispatch that a bartender had been stabbed by a person wearing a mask. The caller said other bar patrons were pinning the suspect down. The bartender was treated and released from the scene.
Documents read in court Monday stated that Reed wore pantyhose and a bandana over her head and stabbed the bartender in the cheek and abdomen.
A second 911 call reported a fight outside the bar involving seven or eight people. When officers arrived, they found Castrucci dead inside his car. His cause of death has not been determined.
Police haven't elaborated on how Reed and Veselenik are involved in Castrucci's death.
Castrucci's father and stepmother also appeared in court Monday, leading to a pair of emotional moments.
The couple pleaded with the judge to keep Reed behind bars.
"My son was murdered over these people," Castrucci's father said. "Don't let her out."
"She's nothing but trouble and trash, and our son is dead, dead, because they drug him up there, so she need not get out of jail," Castrucci's stepmother said.
When Veselenik made his appearance, Castrucci's father also had words for him.
"You got the balls to look at me, boy?" Castrucci's father said when Veselenik turned around. "After my son was murdered because of your scumbag [expletive]?"
Castrucci's father stormed out after that, confronting the remainder of his family on the way out.
Veselenik's next court appearance is Feb. 2.
