According to Lakewood police, during the late afternoon of Monday, December 19, a search warrant was executed against a house on the 1600 block of Waterbury Road.

During the search, a large number of the dogs in the residence were being kept in unsatisfactory conditions.

Because of this, the decision was made to remove the animals from the home. Lakewood Police Department's Animal Control Unit along with the Rocky River Animal Control Officer removed the dogs, mostly beagles, from the house.

In addition to the animal removal, the city building department deemed the house "uninhabitable". The Lakewood Human Services unit is now assisting the resident with alternative housing at this time.

No information on whether the resident will face charges has been reported at this time.
